The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball teams are preparing to begin Raccoon River Conference play tonight as they welcome North Polk into Adel.
The Tigers are set to compete against the Comets for the first time in the 2024-25 season. Last year, ADM girls dropped both games to North Polk, while the boys won each of their encounters. The Tiger girls are 2-2 so far on the season, while the second-seeded Comets are 2-0. North Polk sophomore Campbell Schulz is averaging about 15 points a game on 60% shooting, while ADM’s senior Kelli Storck is at 12.2 points per game on 52.6% shooting.
On the boys side, this will be the Tigers second game of the season as they beat Dallas Center-Grimes on Tuesday, 84-81 in overtime. Junior Hudson Lorensen scored 29 points, with junior Trey Bryte right behind with 27. ADM Head Coach Trevor Mickelson knows that his team will need to be pretty spotless on offense.
“We’re going to have to be really clean offensively. They have a lot of new guys, but the one thing that they really hang their hat on is that they’re a really tough defensively, and so we know that we’re going to have to clean some stuff up and get ready for another good battle.”
The games will be held tonight at ADM High School in Adel with the girls tipping off at 6pm and the guys will follow at approximately 7:30pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF, starting at 5:45pm.
