This Saturday everyone is invited to go to a smaller town in Greene County for holiday festivities that will help worthy causes.
The annual Jingle into Junction will be held from 5-6:30pm at the Grand Junction Community Center. Co-organizer Barbara Hunter says there will be a silent auction with several items up for grabs, along with a chicken noodle bake that the Horizons Club is doing. The meal is $7 for adults, $5 for kids 6-9 years old and those five and younger can eat for free. The Naked Ladies Garden Club is sponsoring a gift booth with ready-made gifts and a cookie walk
Hunter points out the proceeds for the Horizons Club will be used to pay for food for less fortunate families in the community. She explains that the community improvement organization purchased gift cards to Fareway last year instead of packaging food for households as a more efficient way for them to distribute funds to be used for food and it allowed the recipients to purchase what they needed. Hunter notes the Naked Ladies Garden Club will use its proceeds to continue to beautify the community with plantings on Main Street, around the sports court, library and other areas.
Hunter says Tyler Gathercoal will also be there from 5-6pm playing live music and following that will be a holiday clothing apparel contest. She states that last year they tried an ugly Christmas sweater contest but decided that this year would be more generic with holiday clothing, and there will be an adult and kid categories, with the winners determined by applause.
Hunter adds that they continue to host Jingle Into Junction as a way for community members and others to get together and have a meal and a conversation around the holiday time. Additionally, Santa Claus will be at the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue building from 5-6:30pm with free cookies and hot cocoa.
