The AC/GC Chargers boys wrestling team is ready to get things started this year, and build off the previous season’s success.
Head Coach Lane Rumelhart tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the team is already ranked and that he hopes to stay that way throughout the season. Junior Angel Martinez shares what he’s looking forward to this season.
“I want to make it past districts, if not make it to districts this year. Last year I got injured at our Invitational, so I hope to wrestle up districts and see what the outcome is for me.”
Freshman Caden Larson mentions some goals the team has as they prepare to hit the mats.
“I think we just want to get better as a team, just kind of like get to know each other a lot better and be able to compete a lot better and help each other out a lot more.”
Sophomore Ryder Cline talks about some matches that he and the team are looking forward to.
“I know districts is going to be tough this year with Don Bosco and a couple of other teams there. They’re solid teams. We’re going to have to show up for that. Got good competition all around.”
The boys get the season started next week as they host West Central Valley, Nodaway Valley and East Union on Thursday, and then head to Woodward on Saturday for some tournament action.
