Three wrestlers for the West Central Valley Lady Wildcats found success at the Southwest Valley Girls Tournament on Saturday with Bryanna Pena-Rivera, Rhowen Miller, and Willow Ray all placing within the top 3 in their weight classes.
In 115, Pena-Rivera would receive a bye in the quarterfinals before facing off against Shenandoah’s Ashley Hardy in the semifinals. Pena-Rivera would win by fall in 1:26 but would fall to Clarinda’s Randi Welchans by fall in 48 seconds in the first place matchup to claim second place for West Central Valley. In 135, Rhowen Miller would defeat Wayne’s Emersen Gunzenhauser by fall in 1:16 to claim 3rd place. In the 140 weight class, Willow Ray would defeat Sidney’s Lillian Castro by fall in 1:32 to claim third place.
The Wildcat girls wrestling team is back in action on Monday as they travel to Manson Northwest Webster High School for girls wrestling tournament action. The action is set to begin at 5pm.
