When the boys’ bowling team from Greene County High School won its season opening match on Monday vs. Clarke Community in Osceola, it did something the 2023 Rams weren’t able to do until the ninth match of the season, and that was top the 2,800 pin mark. Coach John Woodford’s team won 2,802-2,537. This is just the second season of Greene County bowling and topping 2,800 pins in the first meet is something the coach was pleased with.
A look at bowling scores on Bound Iowa for the first day of the season, the 412 series rolled by Chase Fecher and the 409 by Jacob Rumley were both in the top 20 of the 94 varsity boys statewide that competed on opening day. Rumley’s 242 game ranked fourth highest in Iowa boys’ bowling on Monday. Fecher rolled 206 in each of his two games, while Lane Fields at 216 and Damein Hull with a 201 also topped the 200 mark.
