One of the action items at the West Central Valley School Board’s November meeting covered a couple of amendments to some projects.
Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that one amendment was for a Saving on a Valuable Education project, which would add additional security features to entrances at buildings in the district. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the second amendment was for a referendum project, and that there are a few options as to what that project will cover.
“One of the focuses that we’ve had, and one of the board goals, has been improving facilities, and for educational needs. So the career and tech expansion, that’s a logical one. One of the things when they designed the high school that was proposed was an auditorium, and as with a lot of bond issues, there are things that get cut. And that auditorium was one of those things that got cut off of that initial bond here several years ago. So it’s just something that there’s a need, and it would improve the educational setting. And then down at the sports complex, we only have one locker room. So, we’re just trying to improve that facility along with the rest.”
Shockley mentions that the Board hasn’t decided which project to include in the referendum project yet, but that they will be looking at all three over the next month, and should make a decision at their December meeting.
