The Perry Community School District saw good attendance during their fall parent teacher conferences.
Superintendent Clark Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he heard positive feedback from staff that parents were happy with the effort teachers were doing to instruct their child or children. Wicks expresses that all school levels exceeded 90 percent attendance, with the high school at 91 percent, the middle school at 95 percent, and the elementary school at 96 percent. Wicks contributes the excellent attendance rate to the great relationships being built between teachers and the students.
“Which is outstanding, and that means, I think, positive relationships, people feel good about coming to school. Our book fair went really really well at the middle school (and) high school, and also at Perry Elementary (school), so great evenings for parent teacher conferences.”
Wicks is grateful that he’s heard wonderful feedback from staff members about students, given the turbulent year 2024 has been with the tragedy at the high school and the closure of the Tyson Foods Pork Plant, causing some families to move out of the area.
