With the AC/GC Chargers basketball season around the corner, there are some non-starters from last year that will be key parts of the team this year.

Boys Basketball Head Coach Lance Kading says that he’s looking forward to the season, and that the starting lineup he has planned should be as solid as any other in Class 1A. He mentions that Joe Crawford and Mason Wahl, a high performance guard and wall in the post, have put in a lot of work since last season and come a long way.

Crawford shot 33.3% from the field and 29.5% from beyond the arch, and also contributed 15 assists and nine steals last season. He’s an athlete that can turn on the jets to get up the court quickly, which fits right in with the team’s fast paced attack.

Wahl hauled in 11 rebounds and contributed a block to the team last season, and will be key down low for the team, as height was not something they were known for last season.

For the girls team Becca Littler, Karli Kautzky and Stella Largent all saw a lot of play time, and will be key in helping to fill the spots of the three senior starters who graduated last year.

Littler shot 30.6% from the field and 23.9% from behind the arch, contributing 21 assists and 32 steals. She was a backup ball handler for the team, swapping in with Shay Lemke and Emerson Van Meter regularly when they needed a quick rest.

Kautzky also contributed 27 assists and 24 steals, along with a block and 24 rebounds. She also came in frequently to take over for Lemke or Van Meter, and has quick footwork to help in the guard position.

Largent shot 33.3% from the field, and hauled in 100 rebounds, along with recording 15 assists, 44 steals and 12 of the teams 44 blocks. She brings some needed height for the Chargers, spending her time on the block, but is also quick enough to speed down the court when needed.
