The Dallas County Conservation Board is revealing a new area with an event happening soon.
The board is welcoming people to join a brand new hike on an untraveled path at Voas Nature Area, 19286 Lexington Road, in Minburn this coming Wednesday. Naturalist Zach Moss tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the land where the hike will go through was human-orchestrated in 2023.
“We just went through and started mapping out a path that might be kind of pretty and scenic and educational, and over the course of the last year have been progressively working on getting that trail more defined.”
Moss highlights that the spot within Voas Nature Area has existed for a while, and the board decided to turn it into an explorable area. He describes that the hike will be one mile long and to dress appropriately with the different terrain. Moss explains the trail doesn’t have a name at the moment, but the board is open to suggestions from the public. The event will be held from 2-3pm for free, but registration is required to get a proper head count.
