A Jefferson man was recently sentenced to probation for a drug-related incident in December of 2023.
According to court documents, 50-year-old Phillip Amos pled guilty to a Class C Felony for possession or delivery of methamphetamine with intent to deliver five or less grams. He had a ten year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
The charge stemmed from an executed search warrant of Amos’ residence in the 200 block of East Perry Street in Jefferson on December 15, 2023. Several drug-related items were recovered and Amos admitted to distributing methamphetamine.
Court documents show that Amos was also ordered to pay over $1,500 in fines, fees and surcharges. As per the plea agreement, the aggravated misdemeanor for keeping or maintaining a premise for drugs, a serious misdemeanor for unlawful possession of prescription medication, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.
