An annual event with Raccoon Valley Radio begins this week.

Raccoon Valley Radio staff is doing a series of Caring Christmas Food Drives where the Big Red and Little Big Red Radios will be on location ahead of Christmas, and customers can purchase non-perishable food items or make monetary donations that will stay in that community’s food pantry, following the broadcasts.

This week the broadcasts will be Monday from 8-10am at the Carroll HyVee with Darling Ingredients, then on Wednesday from 5:30-7:30pm at Jefferson HyVee with Greene County Farm Bureau. Finally, on Thursday there are two broadcasts, both at Jefferson HyVee from 2-4pm with HyVee and 4-6pm with Greene County Medical Center. Greene County Action Resource Center (ARC) Manager Shirley Haupert appreciates the donations that come through the Caring Christmas Food Drives.

“You guys do a wonderful job of getting out there and educating the people and telling them what we need, and all of that. Any canned goods of any kind or toiletries (such as) bar soap, toilet paper, shampoo everybody needs that stuff. And you help a lot by getting the word in many different communities and many different stores to tell them.”

Additionally, when you make a donation during the broadcast, you will be automatically entered into a drawing to win the Christmas Cash Giveaway. All three stations, including KDLS in Perry, KGRA in Jefferson and KKRF in Stuart will each have $1,000 to give away for a grand prize winner.
