We continue a series on the six former high school athletes that comprise the Greene County High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class for 2025. Marissa Promes, a 2015 Greene County graduate is our focus today.
Promes was named to All-State teams in softball, not once, not twice, but three times. Two of those selections were on the first team as a pitcher in Class 3A as a junior and senior. While not common in the Jefferson-based softball program, the rarity of her softball career doesn’t end there. As a sophomore Promes was named to the second All-State team as a catcher.
Marissa was the top pitcher for the Rams when they placed third in back-to-back State Softball Tournaments in 2014 and ’15. She was also named to the 3A All-Tournament team both of those years, and is the most decorated softball player in the history of high school softball based in Jefferson.
Promes is currently a math teacher in the Greene County School District. She and the other five selections will be honored at events at the high school in Jefferson Feb. 6 and 7, 2025.
