A two hour fundraiser for one non-profit organization collected a large sum of money for the local food pantry in Jefferson.

Greene County Cattlemen’s Association member Noah Juergensen says they brought in an initial $3,339 on Wednesday during their free-will donation steak sandwich fundraiser, of which they served 250-300 meals that also included a bag of chips, a cookie and bottled water. All of the money will be going to the Greene County Action Resource Center (ARC). He notes that the Cattlemen also donated the leftover 100 meals to the Jefferson Community Fridge at the Gospel Open Bible Church, of which Juergensen says those were served later that night at a free community meal event.

Juergensen states that Home State Bank, Heartland Bank and Jefferson Family Dentistry will also make an additional donation on top of their amount that they gave to the ARC. He thanks all of the community and businesses that stopped by the Home State Bank parking lot on a rainy lunch period to support them and the local food pantry. He also appreciates the partnership with Legacy Events for tents at the last minute to help keep them dry and serve meals.
