Newly elected Dallas County Attorney, Matt Schultz reflects on winning his race.
Schultz defeated Democratic challenger Meggan Guns to be named the next Dallas County Attorney. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that on the night of the election, he visited other candidates’ parties to show support, then returned home to watch the results unfold. Schultz admits that the election process is hard and emotionally draining, but he felt better when the unofficial results came in.
“You get to the end, and especially, at least for me, it was just, it was kind of a relief to be done with that process and then an immediate excitement knowing that I was going to be able to serve the citizens of Dallas County and fight to protect our community.”
Schultz illustrates that he wants to dive head first into the position, stressing that he understands the procedure due to his eight years of experience as the Madison County Attorney. He reiterates that he is tough on crime, but will handle each case with delicacy. Schultz was officially sworn in yesterday to take over from previous Dallas County Attorney Jeannine Ritchie and will serve the rest of the two years of her term.
