Aleah Karolus is coming off her fastest time in the 50 meter freestyle at last Saturday’s Regional at Johnston Summit Middle School. The Jayette swimmer set a new school record as she came in first place with a time of 24.53. The record was held previously by Aleah’s older sister Jaylene. The sophomore wasn’t the first person to talk to her older sister. “My mom actually reached out to her first but she was proud of me. She said that she’s more excited than I am for me to go to state.” Aleah will participate in 4 events at the State meet that begins tomorrow. She will swim in the 50 Meter Freestyle and 100 Meter Freestyle as well a relay leg 400 Meter Freestyle and the 200 Meter Medley. Aleah is one of 5 girls who swim at least one event in Marshalltown. Harper Peterson, Quin Mahler-Moreno, Cali Hernandez, and Ellie Hughes will also represent Perry.
