Jayette wrestling is in the midst of their second week of practice.  Last season, Perry had 5 girls on the wrestling team.  The number has tripled for 2024.  Head coach, TJ Maylum, was expecting more girls, but he is even surprised with the turnout.  “They’re here, baby. Yeah.  It was like opening a present on the first day of practice.  We had like 17 girls roll in.  A couple found out real quick it wasn’t for them and turned around but we’ve got 15 so that’s a huge jump from finishing with five.”  During the offseason, the girls said they would bring their friends.  The five from last season did just that.

Perry has just over one week from the first meet hosted by Waukee Northwest on November 21.
