Veterans Day is on Monday, and many will be celebrating the brave men and women who have served in the US military.
Guthrie County Veterans Affairs Coordinator Beth Watson says that most of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Posts do something for the holiday. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that some of the school districts also have some form of program planned.
“I also know that on the 12th at the high school in West Central Valley, there are four quilts that will be presented to four different veterans on that day. And I do believe the middle school West Central Valley kids will be doing kind of a choir thing, kind of recognizing veterans on that day.”
Watson mentions that the Menlo Auxiliary Post is hosting a supper Saturday beginning at 5:30pm, with the meal to include either lasagna or chicken strips. The meal will be at the Menlo Community Building. Watson adds that the American Legion Riders will be hosting a pork loin supper at the Stuart American Legion Hall at 5:30pm. The cost of the meal will be a free will donation from the public, and free of charge for veterans.
