Over two months ago an initial public meeting was held for a company that is proposing an expansion to its underground pipeline project in Greene County, and tomorrow there will be another public meeting scheduled in Jefferson.
Summit Carbon Solutions is hosting a come and go meeting tomorrow from 7-9am at the Greene County ISU Extension Office meeting room. This meeting is intended to cover the safety aspects of the liquid carbon dioxide underground pipeline that Summit is wanting to build to capture carbon emissions from ethanol plants across five Midwest states and store it in an underground facility in North Dakota.
Following the public informational meeting held by Summit on August 28th for Greene County at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds, Summit has also filed its permit application to the Iowa Utilities Commission on October 11th for the second phase of the project that includes an additional 26.9 miles in Greene County.
Tomorrow’s meeting is for impacted landowners on the route for the second phase, but the general public can also attend and ask questions, as this will be a come and go format with no formal presentation.
