As colder weather continues to move in, there are some things to remember to help stay healthy.
Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber mentions that as fall progresses, cold temperatures and the weather that comes with it can sometimes move in quickly. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio how that change can impact individuals.
“Sometimes we forget that spending too much time out in the cold and not preparing ourselves for the cold can actually cause our bodies to go into a moment where they are vulnerable. So as we get to the colder weather, make sure that you’re paying attention, and make sure that you’re covering yourself appropriately, that you’re wearing, kind of that fall weather (outerwear). We’ve got some jackets going on, all of those things.”
Arber mentions that even though the temperatures are steadily dropping every week, it’s also important to stay properly hydrated. He explains that cooler weather can cause some individuals to not lose as much moisture throughout the day as they don’t sweat as much.
