The second event of the season with the Perry Fine Arts is coming up soon in the City of Perry, featuring a well-known band.
The Al Welsh Orchestra will be taking the stage at the Perry Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th Street, this Sunday. Perry Fine Arts Chairperson Cathy Clark tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the band is accustomed to the Perry community, with their most recent appearance during the RVTV Cy-Hawk stop on Labor Day. She illustrates the type of music they produce.
“The Al Welsh Orchestra plays music of the Big Bands era. They play the most famous dance tunes of the (19)20s, (19)30s, (19)40s, (19)50s, and beyond. They play the music of Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Benny Goodman as well as music from the most popular dance bands such as Lawrence Welk, Guy Lombardo, and Sammy K.”
Clark details that the Al Welsh Orchestra originates from the state of Iowa and has graced over 1,000 stages since the 1950s. Sunday’s show will take place at 2pm and is open to people of all ages for free.
