Drought conditions in the Raccoon Valley Radio area have worsened this week, despite the recent rainfall on Wednesday.
According to the US Drought Monitor Dallas County is facing moderate drought conditions, while Greene County is looking at mainly moderate drought conditions with a slight section of severe drought conditions in the southwest corner. Guthrie County is also facing mainly moderate drought conditions, with the western side of the county seeing severe drought conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, including the recent rains, Perry has recorded 1.82 inches of precipitation this month, when 2.7 inches is the monthly average in October. Jefferson has seen 1.57 inches of rain, with a monthly average of 2.58 inches for October. Guthrie Center has reported two inches of rain, and has an October average of 2.81 inches.
