The Children’s Center in Jefferson has a new individual at the helm.
Amy McGinn was announced as the new director by The Children’s Center Board. McGinn has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood development and elementary education from Morningside University and a master’s degree in education, with a focus in elementary education from the University of Northern Iowa. She has been an advocate and early childhood educator for over 20 years, most recently serving on the National Association for the Educators of Young Children’s Advisory Council.
According to The Children’s Center Board, McGinn will begin in her new position in early November, as she takes the reins from Cherie Cerveny, who has been with the early childhood education facility since its beginning in 2005 when it was known as the Greene County Early Learning Center, and was previously the director. McGinn says she is honored to carry on the legacy that Cerveny has put in place and she is looking forward to working with the staff, board and families to not let the program waver in the transition and continue to provide high quality care.
Cerveny will be the supervisor of the Head Start program in four counties, including Greene, Sac, Guthrie and Calhoun.
