Greene County Public Health is now offering a new program for less fortunate adults to receive vaccines.

GCPH Director Shelby Cooklin says the Vaccines for Adults is a program through funding from the state where adults who do not have health insurance or who are on Medicaid can receive vaccines, including the flu and covid vaccines, along with several other types of vaccines.

“Any vaccines that the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommends that adults get, that’s what we’ll offer. And that’s like Tdap, which is your tetanus, and diphtheria, and pertussis, (and) HPV, there’s all kinds of ones that they’re going to offer.”  

Cooklin shares her thoughts on how she sees this new program benefiting the adult population in Greene County.

“I think, once we start getting it rolled out more, and we kind of get our first year under us, that it’ll definitely be something that it’ll open the door for people to come in, get vaccination services. And then will also open the door for us to link them to other resources in our community that maybe they’re not aware of. So I think that it’ll be a really good program for us.”
