Perry High School hosted their annual College Application Week in the first half of October to help prepare upperclassmen for the next level of education.
College Application Week was held from October 7th-11th at the high school as representatives from Iowa State University and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) were available to walk students through the process of applying to colleges. DMACC Academic Advisor Connie Saenz explains that on October 10th, the high school counselors arranged to bring in all the seniors into the Brady School Library with the goal of applying to their preferred institution.
“It helps them take that extra step that can sometimes be a barrier if they don’t have someone helping them along the way. It just helps break down one of the barriers that just might stop them from pursuing some form of post-secondary education.”
Saenz mentions that around 170 high school students attended the event, and is proud that DMACC plays a pivotal role in that important decision.
