The Jefferson Public Library is hosting another Author Talk near the end of this week.
Library Director Jane Millard says on Friday at 2:30pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson will be Enfys McMurry, who wrote “Disaster at 39,000 Feet.” Millard tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the book tells the true events of a Continental Airlines Flight 11 that crash landed near Centerville, Iowa in 1962 and debris went as far as Unionville, Missouri, killing everyone on board. Millard points out that McMurry knew about the incident and did extensive research and interviews to write the book.
“But it was very interesting how Iowa and Missouri had to work together to reconstruct the airline to determine what had happened. And that was done by the FBI. So the FBI descended on these two small towns. The book is just fascinating to read. It’s not long, it’s very interesting.”
Friday’s program is open to the public and Millard adds copies of the book will be available for purchase after McMurry does a presentation, plus she will autograph her book as well.
