We are in the final week of early voting for the November General Election.
Greene County Auditor Billie Jo Hoskins tells Raccoon Valley Radio her office has been busy once early voting started on October 16th. She says they are averaging 100-120 people per day that are in-person absentee voting, and explains that early voting plays an important role, but is not at all surprised by the numbers of people casting their ballots ahead of Election Day.
“For a Presidential Election it’s about average (number of people early voting). I think both (political) parties are pushing people to absentee vote. I see a trend of people wanting to absentee vote, just to get it done, get it out of the way, then they don’t have to worry about it on Election Day. But I still think we’re going to be busy on Election Day. I think we’re going to have a very good turnout for this election.”
Hoskins notes that about 400 absentee ballots were mailed to individuals across the county and they can no longer mail absentee ballots, with the last day happening last week. She encourages anyone who would like to vote early to do so in the east lobby of the Greene County Courthouse from 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday and through Monday, November 4th. She adds that the courthouse will also be open this Saturday from 9am-5pm as a special opportunity for people to vote.
