Dallas County Deputy Bret Maxwell has outlined the timeline of the collision that occurred Friday afternoon near Adel.

The accident involving a United Parcel Service Truck and a semi happened southbound along Highway 169. Maxwell tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the collision took place approximately around noon, with agencies responding about 10 minutes later. He explains that 25-year-old Davonte Binon, of Des Moines, was operating the UPS Truck and was attempting to make a left turn, when 76-year-old Gary Decamp, of DeSoto, was driving the semi and rammed into Binon when trying to pass him, unaware he was making a left turn.

Maxwell says that both Binon and Decamp received non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. He notes that the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the Dallas County Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the accident. Maxwell states the semi amounts to $100,000 in damages, while the UPS Truck totals $20,000, and concludes that Decamp was cited for unsafe passing.
