The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs cross country teams found great success at the state qualifying meet held in Marshalltown. Both teams would place second place, with the Mustang girls placing second with a team score of 48 points while the Mustangs boys would place second with a team score of 54 points, just one point away from tying with Norwalk who got first with 53 points.
For the Mustang girls, sophomore Piper Messerly would lead the entire pack, placing first with a time of 17:51.5 seconds, while Maddy Stevens would place sixth with a time of 18:57.8 seconds. The girls would have two more Mustangs in the top 15, with Addison Dooley placing tenth and Emily Meyers placing fifteenth.
For the Mustang boys, Elias Arbuckle would lead the pack for the Mustangs, placing fifth with a time of 15:54 second while Jack Meggison and Sam Mora would place eighth and ninth with times of 16:05.5 and 16:05.9 respectively. Senior Graham Ibeling would place 15th for the Mustangs as well.
The Mustang cross country teams are in action in Fort Dodge at Kennedy Park on Friday for the Class 4A State Meet. The race begins at 2pm for the girls and 2:45 for the boys.
