With Halloween coming up soon, the communities in Greene County have announced their respective Beggar’s Nights.

This Saturday, the city of Grand Junction will have its Beggar’s Night from 5-8pm, including a Truck of Treat opportunity where businesses and organizations can be lined up on Main Street to hand out candy and other goodies, as the trick or treaters start at the fire station. Additionally, the city of Scranton will also have its Beggar’s Night this Saturday from 5-7pm, with a Truck of Treat taking place inside the community center. There is also a Truck or Treat happening in Rippey on Saturday from 5-8pm. On Main Street, there will be a costume contest, lawn games, pumpkin painting and a petting zoo. A free will donation meal will start at 6pm with pork loins,  sweet potatoes, fried apples and a caramel apple bar. All proceeds will benefit the 2025 Rippey Fun Day fireworks. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Rippey, Scooter’s Garage, the Rippey Library and Deal’s Orchard.

Then on Halloween, three communities will celebrate their Beggar’s Nights. Jefferson and Churdan are scheduled for 5-7pm, along with a Truck or Treat taking place at the Churdan Library parking lot from 5-6pm and that is sponsored by the Paton-Churdan National Honor Society. The city of Paton will have its Beggar’s Night from 5:30-7pm.
