With Halloween on the horizon, the Perry Chamber of Commerce is hosting a festive event on Friday.

The chamber is inviting residents out to their yearly Spooktacular along 2nd Street in downtown Perry, for kids to trick or treat from 4-6pm. Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio that more than 50 businesses will participate in handing out candy to children. She stresses that the chamber likes to hold the event while it’s still light outside, so it’s easier for people to pay attention.

“It gets dark quick, so we want to make sure that there’s no cars coming and going, especially on Willis (Avenue), it’s been very busy in the past. So people just make a loop, they go down 2nd (Street), they go in front of the Hotel Pattee, they come over to the Perry Public Library, (and then) down to DMACC (Des Moines Area Community College).”

Pasutti hopes that both kids and adults will come out, encouraging them to sport their favorite costume.
