The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Volleyball team recently wrapped up their regular season as Head Coach Trevor Irwin discusses the transition after moving on from a senior-heavy lineup last year.

The Tigers concluded the 2024 regular season with a record of 18-7 overall (8-0 inside the Raccoon River Conference), clinching a two seed in the Class 4A Region 7 Division, beginning Thursday. ADM came into this season losing five seniors from the 2023 team, who played prominent roles. Even though last year’s team was 27-4 overall (8-0 RRC), Irwin points out that a weakness was behind the service line. He describes that the team made it a point of emphasis this season to improve that area.

“(We) dedicate time in practice to it. We try to be really intentional about what is our purpose? What are you doing in practice with your serve? How are you making your serve better every single day with consistency, with power, all those types of things.”

Irwin highlights that Junior Elise Coghlan has stepped in nicely at the setter position, taking over the place from Senior Madison Siefken from 2023’s team, and that the girls needed time to adjust to new teammate leadership. He is proud of the achievements they’ve made throughout the year and is looking to keep developing into the postseason.

The Tigers will either host Des Moines Hoover or Winterset on Thursday at ADM High School in Adel at 7pm.
