Greene County’s three Fall sports teams all enter the postseason this week. Volleyball is up first, followed by cross-country, then football.

Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s volleyball Rams have a 12-16 record and they’ll open Class 3A Region 7 play at Des Moines Christian School in Urbandale tomorrow night. The 7 p.m. contest vs. the 23-14 Lions will send the winning team to Carroll on Oct. 24 vs. either top seed Kuemper Catholic or Harlan Community in a semifinal contest.

The cross-country Rams will go to Red Oak this Thursday for a Class 2A State Qualifying Meet. There are 13 girls’ teams and 14 for boys. State qualifying begins at 4 p.m. Neither Greene County team is ranked among the top teams to run at Red Oak, but there are several highly ranked girls and boys teams in the field.

Clarinda is 6-2 and placed second in District 7 while the Rams are 4-4 and they finished third in District 8.
