The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session this past Monday night.

The Council approved Guthrie County Quality Meats for tax exempt status and renewal of the 2025 Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance policy, with the good news that the premium on the policy had gone down 9.5 percent from the previous year. They also heard a report from Public Works Superintendent Darin Sloss that his department is winterizing the pool and bathhouse at the city’s aquatic center, and that Pingel Mudjacking would be in town to work on manhole covers in the Cameron Flats subdivision in the coming week.

City Clerk Kris Arrasmith shared the City Hall report, in which she mentioned that their independent auditor had been in the office last week, and no major concerns were identified in their review, though written comments will be provided at a later date in the full report. She also shared that she was working on some codification updates due to changes made during the 2024 Iowa Legislative Session, and that the dedication and ribbon cutting of the mural commissioned by the Guthrie County Arts Council would take place on October 20th.
