With the colder months coming up, Jefferson city crews are winding down some of its services that have been provided for the year.

Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says the final brush pick up for the year will be October 21st-23rd, where city crews will pick up tree limbs, sticks and other similar items with the cut ends facing the curb that will be chipped as they are collected. He points out that yard waste will also be picked up then as well, with those items placed in the biodegradable brown bags with the proper yard waste sticker attached.

Morlan emphasizes the final yard waste pick up of the year will be November 12th-14th and there will be no required yard waste stickers during that time. He talks about what is acceptable for the final free yard waste pick up for the year.

“Leaves, if they clean the flower bed out and put it in a paper sack. Again everything needs to be in biodegradable paper sacks. But, you know if they have flowers, leaves, that kind of stuff. We will not be out picking up and chipping brush or doing anything like that.”

Morlan reminds residents that they can use the yard waste dump site at Daubendiek Park all year round as well.
