The Stuart City Council met in regular session Monday night.
The Council approved a partial payment of $89,158.41 to McAninch Corporation, discussed implementing a $500 per day fee until substantial completion for liquidated damages assessment, a bid by Scott Concrete and Construction for paving trail pathways, and an extension of the MidAmerican gas lines for $119,483.58, all for the Wambold third addition for phase four housing. They also approved a change order for the 2023 sanitary sewer system improvements project for $31,820.25, plus another $5,500 for traffic control during the repair work for the project.
The Council also discussed looking into different options to possibly assist the owners of the old First State Bank building in doing repair work to the exterior walls, approved the final plat of the Wambold third addition, adding stop signs and designating no parking zones in the Wambold third addition, and approved the purchase of a 2013 Pelican single broom street sweeper by the Public Works department for $120,000, and sale of the 2003 Dodge Ram by the fire department for $2,000. They also set a date for a public hearing on an urban renewal plan amendment and a meeting for a development agreement with GTCR Land, LLC for the next City Council meeting on November 12th.
The Council then approved all three readings of an ordinance amending an ordinance for the zoning supplementary district regulations of City Code, covering the difference for repair work for the Stuart Depot for roughly $9,700 to replace the doors and do exterior paint work, and the 2024 urban renewal report. They then approved the condemnation process at 611 North Gaines Street, and discussed cemetery complaints and the Guthrie County emergency medical services proposal.
