Monday’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Coed Cross-Country Meet was held east of Nevada at Hickory Park. The Rams had the Hinote brothers, Noah, a senior, and Carter, a junior, finish in the top 12, thus earning All-Conference recognition. The Rams were fourth among nine boys’ teams and seventh in a field of seven girls’ squads
Noah Hinote finished in tenth for the boys in 17:57.8 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). Carter Hinote was 12th in 18:25.6. Coach Jeff Lamoureux told Raccoon Valley Radio he’s not aware of any other brothers in cross-country earning All-Conference honors at the same meet for the Rams. The All-Conference honor is the third for Noah and the first for Carter. The younger Hinote ran a personal best time for the 5 kilometers.
Sophomore Brady Carstensen was 15th in 18:42.5, followed by freshman Nate Black, 26th in 19:55.9, and freshman Kole Johnson-Peterson, 41st in 20:03.0.
Greene County’s girls’ were led by freshman Rylee Mowrer. She was 24th in 22:47.5. Senior Ava Jablonski was 40th in 25:10.4, followed by sophomore Evelyn Snyder, 43rd in 25:54.9, freshman Cora Powers, 46th in 29:25.3, and junior Leah McCormick, 47th in 29:42.6
All that remains for the Rams is the postseason. The Greene County coach expects Class 2A State Qualifying Meet assignments soon, perhaps as early as today.
