The Iowa National Guard is dispatching soldiers from Perry to give relief to the residents of Florida dealing with the devastation of the recent hurricanes.
The state of Florida has been hit with two consecutive hurricanes of Helene and Milton, leaving hundreds of people dead and millions without power or homes. According to Iowa National Guard Public Affairs Operations Officer Austin Cox, several soldiers from the City of Perry met at Camp Dodge in Johnston on Thursday where they loaded up on supplies to be sent off to Florida to join other military members to help evacuate residents and relocate them to a safer area.
