Hickory Park east of Nevada is the site of today’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Coed Cross-Country Meet. Middle school races start the afternoon with high school races to follow.
Greene County’s boys have been consistently in the upper division at recent conference meets, including more than one runner-up team finish. The girls for the Rams only have five out, which is the minimum to qualify for a team score.
Coach Jeff Lamoureux reports senior Noah Hinote is ranked number five with sophomore Brady Carstensen at number 15. The top 12 individuals earn All-Conference honors.
Today’s meet is the last of the regular season. The postseason begins on Thursday, Oct. 24 with a Class 2A State Qualifying Meet. Assignments for the postseason aren’t out yet, but none of the five 2A locations are anywhere close to Jefferson, so the Rams will have some traveling to do 10 days from now.
