The AC/GC Chargers continue their undefeated streak, after a win against the Mount Ayr Raiders.

The Chargers got a stop on the Raiders opening drive, then put one in the endzone to take a 7-0 lead going into the second quarter. The Raiders were able to punch one in with a successful two point conversion, and the Chargers put up another score to go into the halftime break 14-8.

In the second half, the Chargers ratcheted up the offense, with a couple big plays. The first was a reversal on what was a third and long situation, where quarterback Jathan South successfully fooled many into believing that he had the ball when he had handed it off to wide receiver Eli Madsen, who rocketed down the field for an 85 yard touchdown. After another score in the third, the Chargers were up 26-8. In the fourth quarter the Raiders got another touchdown, but AC/GC put in their second big play of the night. In a fourth and long position, the Chargers set up their punt squad with fullback Mike Fuller back to send the ball downfield. He did just that, but not by booting the ball away. Instead, it was a trick play, and after letting things develop, Fuller launched the ball to junior Joe Crawford who caught the ball, then sped into the endzone for a 63 yard touchdown. The final score of the game was 40-14, and the Chargers moved to 7-0 on the season.

The Jefferson Monument’s Longest Drive of the Game was Madsen’s 85 yard touchdown, as the Chargers started on their own nine yard line, got to the 19 for a first down, then were called back for holding to the 14 yard line. After a one yard gain, the ball was handed to Madsen for the score. The Crafty’s Coffee Players of the game were Madsen and Fuller on the offensive side for their big plays to help put points on the board, and Jack Sheeder on the defensive side for either being part of a tackle, or helping get the ball carrier into a position that teammates could get the stop.
