Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Greene County High School volleyball team won 3-0 at home in Jefferson on Thursday night vs. Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponent South Hamilton (Jewell). Scores were 25-13, 25-16, 25-10 as the Rams improved to 11-12 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Hawks fell to 1-6 in the conference and 7-23 on the season.
Senior Violet Reedy had three ace serves in set one and senior Emma Ewalt had one. The Ramd led 9-1 in the first set and SH never got closer than five points the rest of the way. Set two saw Greene County put a 10-0 run on the board with senior Payton Kokenge serving nine of those points. Kokenge had three ace seres in the set and junior Lila Osterson had one ace. A 9-0 run aided the Rams in set three. Senior Hailey Carman served on eight of the nine points and Carman had two aces in the set with one by Reedy.
Paton-Churdan played Ar-We-Va in Westside in a contest between two teams that entered 0-7 in Rolling Valley Activities Conference play. The home team Rockets beat the visiting Rockets in three sets. P-C lost 14-25, 21-25, 13-25 and is now 2-9 overeall with nine losses in a row and they end 0-8 in the Rolling Valley. AWV won for the first time in 20 matches this season and is 1-7 in conference play. P-C Coach Makayla Sparr told Raccoon Valley Radio sophomore Alivya Smith led the team on Thursday night in digs with 14. Junior Mia Russell led the Rockets in kills with four, and senior Grace Cullum was the team leader in service aces with two.
