For the second team in three days the Greene County cross-county teams had a meet and the boys placed third for the second straight meet. After placing third on Tuesday in Lake City at the South Central Calhoun meet, the Rams were third again on Thursday at Saydel High School in Des Moines. There were nine boys’ teams and the Rams had 107 points, well behind the 17 of first place Des Moines Christian and the 53 points of runner-up Ankeny Christian Academy.
Senior Noah Hinote was 13th to lead the Rams for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). He was clocked in 18:10.67, followed by sophomore Brady Carstensen, 17th in 18:38.37, freshman Nick Black, 22nd in 18:58.2o, junior Carter Hinote, 24th in 19:01.06, and freshman Kole Johnson-Peterson, 45th in 20:48.35.
The Greene County girls were seventh among seven teams with 185 points. DMC also won the girls’ team title, this time with 29 points. the Rams were led by freshman Rylee Mowrer, 20th in 24:30.77. Next for the Rams was senior Ava Jablonski, 26th in 27;48.55, followed by sophomore Evelyn Snyder, 38th in 28:09.30, freshman Cora Powers, 45th in 33:11.85, and junior Leah McCormick, 48th in 35.29.01.
Coach Jeff Lamouseux told Raccoon Valley Radio that this was another good night for the Rams. “I wasn’t sure how they would respond with the quick turnaround after Tuesday’s meet. But all-in-all they really stepped up and posted some good times. Noah Hinote and Brady Carstsensen medaled again ((top 20 medaled) and boys finished in third place behind two really good teams.”
