The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During reports, Supervisor Vice Chair Dawn Rudolph reminded everyone that Shelby Cooklin has officially taken over as the new Greene County Public Health Director, as Becky Wolf will be training her before she officially retires at the end of the year. It was also mentioned in the meeting that County Veterans Affairs Director Michael Bierl will resign at the end of the year.

County Attorney Thomas Laehn addressed the Board on a few topics. He was going to be at a meeting on Tuesday in Des Moines with state legislators about the Summit Carbon Solutions proposed second phase of an underground carbon dioxide pipeline. He mentioned that there were going to be three separate types of trials in November. Along with a jury trial for a criminal case, Laehn said there was also going to be a property assessment appeal board trial where he will serve as the attorney for the County Assessor with Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson who believes their property assessment is too high. The third trial will be a final appeal from a criminal who believes the trial was done unfairly.

Next, the Board approved the Reason for Proposal for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Commission services for the HVAC project in the Greene County Courthouse that will be sent to four companies, including Cornerstone Commissioning, KFI Engineers, Systems Works, Optimized Systems. This was from the recommendation of BBS Architects and Engineers, which will be inspecting the project. The Board also approved the County Recorder’s quarterly report of fees and the County Treasurer’s quarterly investment report.

The Board then held a public hearing about authorizing a loan agreement to issue $24,750,000 of general obligation urban renewal capital loan notes. Following the hearing where no comments were made and no letters were submitted, the Board approved the resolution to institute proceedings to take additional action to issue not to exceed $24,750,000 of general obligation urban renewal capital loan notes. The meeting ended in a closed session to discuss courthouse security committee recommendations.
