The Mary J Barnett Memorial Library is looking for donations for a project inside the library.

Director Jerri Hawkins says at the monthly meeting of the Friends of the Guthrie Center Library is Monday at 6:15pm, and they will be discussing renewing the Donor Tree mural. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they want to refresh the wall.

“It gets hit with that west sun, that wall does, and it’s needing some renewed paint. We have reached out to a local artist and she has designed a fresh look. We will be keeping all the leaves from the tree and the previous donors, those will just be turned into butterflies instead of leaves on the new wall.”

Hawkins mentions that any donation is welcome, but that each square foot of the mural will cost $18 for paint, with a total of 154 square feet to be painted. She adds that they are looking forward to having the wall repainted, and the new mural put up.
