Monday is the final day for young adults in the West Central Valley School District to submit an application for the International Travel Scholarship.

Stuart Library Foundation Board member Russ Wagner says that the first phase of applying for the scholarship is nearly over, and that’s when the second phase begins. He mentions that the second phase of the application process will finish on October 14th, and that it includes the remaining applicants putting together a more in depth look at the expenses for their trip, and what they plan to learn while on the trip.

Wagner tells Raccoon Valley Radio that applicants should keep in mind that the scholarship helps cover many costs of the trip.

“The expenses that are paid for, and the contributions form the actual International Travel Scholarship include full, if not almost entirely paid for, for necessary expenses like passport fees, the actual travel expenses. So if you were with a group, the travel expenses, airfare, room and board, ancillary expenses like breakfast, lunch and dinner, those types of things.”

Wagner explains that once the second phase is over, the Stuart Library Foundation Board will review the new information presented, and identify individuals that they believe most deserve this opportunity. He adds that those who will receive the scholarship for this year will be announced on November 22nd.
