Ceramic Relief Plaque was not yet completed at the time of this article

A special recognition was held Wednesday evening for the longtime Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger.

Hometown Heritage does a yearly tradition of recognizing an individual from the City of Perry. President Bill Clark previously revealed on Raccoon Valley Radio that Marburger was the 2024 recipient to be put up on the Wall of Witnesses in Soumas Court. There was a ceremony held at Hotel Pattee on Wednesday to honor Marburger. Clark opened up the ceremony to a crowd of approximately 50 people by claiming that most of the nominations they received for the Wall of Witnesses this year were for Marburger.

Perry School Superintendent Clark Wicks spoke about his relationship with Marburger and how he exuded the true meaning of being a Bluejay. Dan’s wife, Elizabeth stepped up to the microphone to explain that she worked with the artist, Rick Stewart of Newton, to help craft the ceramic relief. She shared funny stories as well as giving a background from his childhood. Others from the audience were able to tell personal stories about how they were affected by Marburger.
