The AC/GC Chargers cross country teams are competing well according to rankings from the Iowa Track Coaches Association, and Head Coach Rick Blake.

In the most recent team rankings for Class 1A, both the boys and girls teams are ranked 8th in their respective divisions. Blake mentions that there are also individuals who are ranked, with senior Gavin Sloss ranked 20th and sophomore Preston Kent ranked 28th on the boys side, and senior Ava Campbell ranked 8th on the girls side. Blake shares that all three athletes have really stepped up during the season to improve, and the seniors have been instrumental in helping lead the team to some strong finishes, including in the last meet which they hosted, where the girls won the meet, and the boys came in second. He mentions that this week is a practice week for the team, as they don’t have any competitions that they are attending, but that they are looking forward to the last three weeks of the season before the State Cross Country meet, as they host the conference and district meets.
