The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center FFA Chapter held their second annual car show recently.
Chapter member Lucy Knutter says that everyone had a good time, and they got to do some new things for the show. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that one of their judges was a Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputy.
“So that was a fun one, something new. Kent Gries came down, and was picking a winner for our ‘Most Likely to Get Pulled Over’ award, and that was kind of a fun experience. It was just another way to get kind of the community more involved, and it definitely allowed for more conversation during the car show, and just really got people excited for something new.”
Fellow Chapter member Lilah Heinz shares what she found enjoyable about the event.
“I liked the variety of the extra categories, so ‘Most Likely to Get Pulled Over,’ and ‘People’s Choice.’ Because if you didn’t win a category, you still had a chance to win something else, and it was also just really fun to see what one of the extra things your car could go for.”
Senior Chapter member Gavin Sloss was part of the team that set up for both events, and mentions some differences in this year’s car show over last year’s.
“We definitely got the news out a lot more. I know we’ve had people come up from Missouri this year to the car show, people from all over the state coming in, a lot of spectators. I think we had 350 spectators come in. We served 250 people, (and had) a total of 76 cars.”
Overall, the three explain that a fun time was had by all, and that they believe that this is something that the Chapter will be continuing for years to come.
