Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Senior Mackealin Sutton, on the Girls Cross Country team, zeroes in on the main area the Tigers addressed ahead of the 2024 season.

Sutton tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the message discussed by ADM revolved around maintaining a positive mindset throughout the year. She admits that it provides a huge benefit, especially during tough meets for the team. Sutton says it’s been nice to see steady progression so far.

“Throughout every meet we’ve been seeing improvement, and especially at Newton, it was a great race and we all went out pretty fast and we won, so that was great, and it was just nice to see all of the workouts and hard work we’ve been putting in pay off.”

Sutton recognizes that remaining vigilant to increasing speed in the workouts will bode well for better times overall in races for the remainder of the season.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to like push my pace and get faster really. As you get towards the end of the season, it’s nice to see like all of your endurance and like speed build up and get faster times.”

Sutton captured 12th overall with a time of 22:58 in the 5K in Newton. The ADM Girls XC is coming off a first place finish in Newton as a team and will return to action tomorrow in Williamsburg, beginning at 4:30pm.
