Greene County is under a burn ban.

Greene County Sheriff and Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams says the burn ban has been in place since September 29th. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio this means there is to be no open burning of any kind in the county until further notice.

If someone is found to be openly burning, that individual could be charged with a simple misdemeanor and a fine. Raccoon Valley Radio will notify the public of when the burn ban is lifted.
