An organization in Jefferson is looking for additional board members.
Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County Board President Danielle Ross says there are a couple of openings for people to volunteer to be on their board, which she feels is pretty active, as they host a lot of events, such as the Meet Your Legislator forums during the Iowa Legislative Session, educational programs for school students, Summer Concert Series, plus maintaining the gardens. She talks about why she first joined the board.
“So for me it’s what we represent at Thomas Jefferson Gardens. I’m a big believer in education, science, history, I love gardening, I used to work at the greenhouse when I was a kid. So it really had all the features that I wanted to be a part of, when giving back to the community and being involved.”
Ross adds that their board meetings are once per month for about 1-1.5 hours. She advises if people are interested to learn more about being on the board, to call the Welcome Center at 515-386-2155.
